The southerly lowlands of the island average around 0 °C<span> (</span>32 °F) in winter, while the Highlands of Iceland tend to average around −10 °C<span> (14 °F). The lowest temperatures in the northern part of the island range from around −25 to −30 °C (−13 to −22 °F). The lowest temperature on record is −39.7 °C (−</span>39.5 °F<span>).</span>
The central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain and the spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), which is comprised of nerves and ganglia (small concentrations of grey matter).
The brain sends messages to the peripheral nerves in the body via the spinal cord, these have control of muscles and internal organs.
Orchids are now grown through vegetative propagation, rather than seeds, courtesy of developments in cloning. This allows many orchid plants to be grown from a portion of a single orchid plant. This allows even the rare orchid o to be grown in mass. There is also little variation when cloning s done as compared to growing with seeds.
Fossils can give information about past environmental conditions by showing the type of animal they belonged to. If a scientist found a whale fossil in a desert, he/she could assume that the desert was once an ocean as whales only live in oceans. If someone found a fossil of a lizard that inhabited trees, in the middle of the ocean, then he/she could assume that the ocean didn't exist at one point and instead, there might have been a forest in it's place.
