The Albany Congress was a meeting of representatives that were sent by seven of the thirteen colonies of British North America. The main purpose of the meeting was for the delegates to meet in order to discuss the relations between the American Indians, the French and the British at the beginning of the French and Indian War. One of the purposes of this meeting was the creation of a treaty with the Mohawks and other Iroquois tribes. The meeting serve as a model for two important meetings that took place afterwards: the Stamp Act Congress (1765) and the First Continental Congress (1774).
