Hey there!
Let's think about it.
When you have regular plain old whole numbers, and you want to find an equal number, the only thing to do is multiply by one.

It's no different with fractions. When we want to find an equivalent fraction, we multiply by some version of one, like 2/2 or 4/4. We'll use 2/2.
We have:

1/4(2/2) = 2/8

And we know that it;s equal because when we divide the top and bottom by 2, we get 1/4.

Hope this helps!

8.5? Give that a try!:)
What I did was I took a piece of paper, and listen those numbers from least to greatest, then I scratched off one number per side, till I got to the middle. From there, I added 8 and 9, the divided by 2. There, I got 8.5

Which is the correct formula to find the distance between two points (p,q) and (m,n)?
Dafna1 [17]

Answer:

The answer is d = √[(p - m)² + (q - n)²] ⇒ first answer

Step-by-step explanation:

* The distance between any to points (x1 , y1) , (x2 , y2) is

- d = √[square the difference of x- coordinates plus

        square the difference of y-coordinates]

∴ d = √[(x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)²] or

∴ d² = (x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)²

* x2 - x1 is the horizontal distance (h) and y2 - y1

 is the vertical distance (v)

- By using Pythagoras theorem

∴ d = √[h² + v²]

∵ The two points are (p , q) and (m , n)

- Put x1 = m and y1 = n

- Put x2 = p and y2 = q

∴ d² = (p - m)² + (q - n)²

∴ d = √[(p - m)² + (q - n)²]

∴ The answer is d = √[(p - m)² + (q - n)²] ⇒ first answer

A line has a slope of -4/5. Which ordered pairs can be points on the line is perpendicular to this line
pychu [463]

Answer:

Any ordered pairs which have a slope of 5/4.

Step-by-step explanation:

The line has a slope of -4/5 which means the y values have a difference of -4 and the x values have a difference of 5. If the line is perpendicular to this line then its slope must be the negative reciprocal which is 5/4. Any points which have a difference in y values of 5 and a difference of x values of 4 will be on some line perpendicular to the original.
