How does Tom reveal Gatsby's true identity in this chapter? What effect does this have on Daisy?

English
1 answer:
stich3 [128]3 years ago

Answer:

First he starts by getting Gatsby angry, mocking how he regularly calls people old sport. Then, he accuses him of not going to Oxford, which Gatsby denies. After a short quarrel about who between them is loved by Daisy, Tom accuses Gatsby of being a bootlegger. This causes Daisy to shift further away from Gatsby and closer to Tom. It should be considered that daisy is into richer men, and probably moves towards Tom for that fact.

joja [24]

Answer:

D). "You could go crazy thinking of how unprivate our lives really are. . .the porous state of our Internet selves, the trail of electronic crumbs we leave every day," says New Yorker journalist Susan Orlean.

Explanation:

As per the question, the last quotation signals omission of text as it involves the use of ellipsis which is 'a sequence of three dots(. . .) functioning to indicate the deliberate omission of text without altering its actual meaning.' Therefore, the three consecutive dots in the last option indicates that certain elements from the actual quotation has been intentionally omitted by the author which he might have found less relevant to explain the given idea. This assists the author to attract the audience's attention towards the key aspect of the idea and present the information briefly and comprehensively. Thus, option D is the correct answer.
