The correct answer is C. The border between California and Oregon is a thin, black line; this indicates a state boundary.

Explanation

According to the map and its conventions, the correct option is C. because the line that divides the states of Oregon and California in the west of the country is a thin line that according to the conventions of the map indicates a "State Boundary". Additionally, the other options are not correct, for example, option A. "The border between Texas and Mexico is a thin, black line; this indicates an international boundary" is incorrect because according to the conventions of the map, the "National Boundary" is indicated by two thick and continuous lines; in addition, option B. "The border between California and Oregon is a blue line; this indicates an international boundary" is incorrect because the state limit between Oregon and California is not a State River Boundary; finally, option D. "The border between Texas and Mexico is a thick, black line; this indicates a state boundary" is incorrect because the boundary between Mexico and Texas is an national boundary. So, the correct aswer is C. The border between California and Oregon is a thin, black line; this indicates a state boundary.

Why is the Civil War considered the first modern war?
Jet001 [13]

The American Civil War is considered the first modern world for multiple reasons. Advances in technology made it possible to inflict mass casualties. Rifles were more accurate, took less loading time, and the bullets were more devastating in their effects. Earthworks were dug as barriers from direct gun and shellfire. Ironclad ships and the first submarines were used.

Other reasons that this war is considered the first modern war, was that it was possible, because of the railroads and telegraphs, to communicate in a timely manner, in different parts of the country. The war was widespread and communication was vital, whether it was to let someone know that they were getting new supplies of Enfield rifles, to alerting a commander that the opposition was changing position and heading to a new target.

Photography and reporting were extensive in this conflict, bringing the modern horrors of the battlefield into the homes of non-combatants. Everyone was effected or participated in the war. From the destruction of the South to the poor conditions of prison camps, this war touched almost everyone, in some way.

Galina-37 [17]
Because at any point the officials could come in and search . Especially if you were smuggling goods, this could be very bad because you would likely be caught but, more so, they felt this was disrespectful of their rights as citizens
