Answer:

Through his first six years in office, Franklin Roosevelt spent much of his time trying to bring the United States out of the Great Depression. The President, however, certainly did not ignore America's foreign policy as he crafted the New Deal. Roosevelt, at heart, believed the United States had an important role to play in the world, an unsurprising position for someone who counted Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson among his political mentors. But throughout most of the 1930s, the persistence of the nation's economic woes and the presence of an isolationist streak among a significant number of Americans (and some important progressive political allies) forced FDR to trim his internationalist sails. With the coming of war in Europe and Asia, FDR edged the United States into combat. Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, however, brought the United States fully into the conflict.

Why was King George so surprised by Washington’s decision to retire to Mount Vernon at the end of the war?
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

Mindful of the precedent his conduct set for future presidents, Washington feared that if he were to die while in office, Americans would view the presidency as a lifetime appointment. Instead, he decided to step down from power, providing the standard of a two-term limit.

Murljashka [212]

The reason why the indulgences paid to the Catholic Church sparked the Protestant Reformation was that many religious scholars felt that indulgences went against the Words of the Bible.

How did indulgences lead to the Protestant Reformation?

Indulgences annoyed several Christian scholars such as Martin Luther who argued that paying for sins to be forgiven was against the word of the Gospel.

As a result, new denominations in Christianity broke out and this led to the period known as the Protestant Reformation.
