Most Loyalists who resisted independence tended to be wealthy proprietors, Anglican clergymen, or individuals with political ties or close business to Britain. Many Loyalists approved that the American colonists had agonized from the support of the British but the Loyalists expected that a peaceful reconciliation with the British government was conceivable.

EXPLANATION:

There are eight features of the Loyalists that made them primarily conservative and loyal to the king and Britain:

1. They were older, more established, and opposed to radical change

2. They felt that the rebellion against the Crown - the legal government - was morally wrong.

3. They were exiled when the Patriots committed violence, such as tarring and feathering and burning houses.

4. They wanted to take a halfway position and were irritated when forced by the Patriot to express their opposition.

5. They had long sentimental ties with Britain (often with business and family relations).

6. They understood that independence would surely come one day, but wanted to delay that moment.

7. They were careful and afraid that mob and chaos would occur.

8. Some people were pessimists who lacked the confidence in the future shown by the Patriots. Others recalled the horrific experiences of many Jacobite protestors after the breakdown of the last Jacobite rebellion as currently as 1745 who usually lost their lands when the Hanoverian government won.

Motives of the Loyalists included:

1. They felt the need for command and believed that Parliament was legal authority.

2. In New York, powerful families had gathered a broad coalition of supporters, the Men were long related to the French Huguenot /Dutch De Lancey group when the leadership decided to support the crown.

3. They felt themselves to be threatened or weal in American society and need outside defenders such as the Parliament and British Crown.

4. Black loyalists had been assured freedom from slavery by the British.

5. They felt that being part of the British Empire was very important in terms of their trade and business operations.

The main reason why colonialist rebelled against the British was because of heavy taxes, unreasonable laws, and rash actions of British Government and troops. Loyalists on the other hand were the colonialist who remained loyal to the British. The reason why the loyalist opposed independence from Britain is because they thought war with such a powerful nation would be pointless and they would never win. Others thought that we should pay taxes to the British because they should be loyal to Britain. This doesn't mean that they were not upset with the taxes.

Answer:

Europeans, maybe also Americans.

Explanation:

The Europeans are the most apparent. Britain and Germany were incredibly strong forces in China during and leading up to the Boxer Rebellion. America was also heavily involved. If I had to choose one, I would say Europe, but if not Europe and America were both heavily involved.
