A car is moving at a fixed speed. The distance D that the car covers is then directly proportional to the time T it moves.

We were told that the distance D is directly proportional to the time T.

We write this mathematically as,

D\propto T

We can now introduce our constant of variation and write the equation for the direct equation as;

D=kT

where k is the constant of variation or constant of proportionality.

We substitute D=20 and T=15, in to the equation of variation to obtain the constant of proportionality.

That is;

20=k\times15

This implies that,

\frac{20}{15}=k

This simplifies to give us,

k=\frac{4}{3}

Now our equation of proportion becomes,

D=\frac{4}{3}

When T=20

D=\frac{4}{3}\times20

D=\frac{80}{3}

Writing this as a mixed number we obtain,

D=26\frac{2}{3}

This can also be rewritten as

D=26.67 correct to one decimal places.

Therefore the care covers 26.67 miles in 20 minutes.

Loretta has a patio in the shapea trapezoid. The floor of the patio is shown in the sketch below.12 feet5 feetWood PlanksBrick15
beks73 [17]

We can calculate the width of the rectangle patio with pythagorean theorem:

\begin{gathered} \text{Base of triangle=15-12=3} \\ c^2=a^2+b^2 \\ 5^2=3^2+b^2 \\ b=\sqrt[]{25-9} \\ b=\sqrt[]{16} \\ b=4 \end{gathered}

Then, she need to put trim on the edge of the floow of the patio that is wood planks and DOES NOT share and edge with the brick part:

\begin{gathered} T=12+4+12 \\ T=28\text{ feet} \end{gathered}

Loretta need to put 28 feet of trim.

Find the area of the surface. the part of the cylinder y^2+z^2=9 that lies above the rectangle with vertices (0,0),(4,0),(0,2),
Mice21 [21]
We can parameterize this part of the cylinder using

\mathbf s(u,v)=\langleu,3\cos v,3\sin v\rangle

with 0\le u\le4 and \cos^{-1}\dfrac23\le v\le\dfrac\pi2. Then the surface element is

\mathrm d\mathbf S=\|\mathbf s_u\times\mathbf s_v\|\,\mathrm du\,\mathrm dv
\mathrm d\mathbf S=3\,\mathrm du\,\mathrm dv

so the area is given by the surface integral, where D denotes the part of the cylinder in question,

\displaystyle\iint_D\mathrm d\mathbf S=3\int_{v=\cos^{-1}(2/3)}^{v=\pi/2}\int_{u=0}^{u=4}\mathrm du\,\mathrm dv=6\pi

Probably less work would involve a simpler geometric approach, but it doesn't hurt to practice setting up a proper surface integral.

Ok so BFD is a 90 degree angle. So you know you have 43 in one of the spaces so that means all you have to do is take 90 and minus 43 which is 47.

The biology faculty at a college consists of 8 professors, 11 asscociate professors , 12 assistant professors and 4 instructors.
vodka [1.7K]

Answer:

0.343

Step-by-step explanation:

First, find the different ways one can chose a professor or instructor. In this case, there are 8 professors and 4 instructors. So there are a total of 12 ways you can choose a professor or instructor.

Second, you want to find the different ways you can choose any member of the faculty. In this example, since you are only choosing one person, then you just find the total number of people in the faculty, which is 8 + 11 + 12 + 4 = 35.

Third, all you do is divide the different ways you can get a professor or instructor by the total different ways you can choose. So it's 12/35, or 0.343.

What’s the value of X ???!!!!
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

So since triangle jkl and wyz are similar angles j and w must equal each other, angles k and y must equal each other, and angles l and z are equal. So to find x just set 4x-13 equal to 71

4x-13=71

add 13 to both sides to cancel the -13 from the left

4x=84

and divide both sides by 4 to cancel the 4 on the left

x=21
