Committees in Congress are tasked with a specific element of American society to study, organize, or provide information on. One of the standing (aka permanent) committees is the Joint Committee on Taxation. This committee consists of members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. In this committee, members from both parts of Congress meet in order to try to simplify the tax code and investigation the operation/effectiveness of the internal revenue taxes.
