The answer is A. It was inaccurate since the war dragged on for years and involved fierce fighting on both sides.

Why is it A? well because the cartoon was an optimistic presentation of what many in the North thought before the war started. But it was inaccurate since the war dragged on for years and involved fierce fighting on both sides. The cartoon was intended to calm Northern fears about the coming conflict.

the correct answer is (B) building missions.

The missions were built by the Spanish starting the year 1769 in order to "colonize" the territory of Alta California, which they had discovered over two centuries earlier. The mission system required that Indians brought into a mission by being baptized into the faith and through this they could become"civilized."
