Explain the relationship between crossing over and genetic variation
7nadin3 [17]

Answer:

When homologous chromosomes form pairs during prophase I of meiosis I, crossing-over can occur. Crossing-over is the exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes. It results in new combinations of genes on each chromosome. It is obviously another source of genetic variation in offspring.

A single strand of DNA helix consists of 100 nitrogenous base pairs. On one strand, 36 of the bases are adenine and 24 are cytos
Katena32 [7]
Hello!

For the complementary strand of DNA, 36 Thymine bases and 24 Guanine bases would complete the proper base pairing.

This is given by the concept of complementarity. A base in DNA has complementarity with only one other base. This complementarity is produced by hydrogen bond interactions.

For DNA, Adenine couples with Thymine and Cytosine couples with Guanine. So the 36 adenine bases will couple with 35 thymine bases, and so on.

Have a nice day!

Nat2105 [25]
The cell membranes begin to come apart when there is insufficient water around the cells. The cytoplasm of the cells becomes more concentrated, which slowly poisons the cells. The cell walls become brittle as they dry out, and some of them collapse. The central vacuoles in the cells lose water and can no longer help support the cells.

Why salivary amylase is active in the mouth, but becomes inactive in the stomach?
Cerrena [4.2K]
It becomes inactive in the stomach because of the stomach having a MUCH greater PH level then the mouth. It is typically 1.0-2.0 in the Stomach which is extremely acidic which causes it to change shape and therefore inactive.

Eva8 [605]

Answer:

Glucose is made of six carbon atoms, six oxygen atoms, and twelve hydrogen atoms. When the plant makes the glucose molecule, it gets the carbon and oxygen atoms it needs from carbon dioxide, which it takes from the air
