Answer: 14.7 pints of white paint

IF two different colors were used.

IF she mixed paint to get a light blue, 3/5 of the total would be about 5.9 pints.

Step-by-step explanation:

If 9.8 is 2/5 of the total amount used, set up the equation as 9.8= 2x/5

You get the total amount of paint used is 24.5 pints. Subtract the 9.8 of blue to find the amount of white. That's 14.7 pints.

In practical, real life, a quart of paint covers about 100 square feet. That's an average 8 ft high by 12 ft wide wall.

So that is why I edited this answer. 24 pints is 3 gallons-- that is enough for 3 bedrooms.

And I wish that Math teachers used more common measurements of paint!

Answer:

5.88 pints

Step-by-step explanation:

Well the amount of white paint is 3 / 5 of 9.8

0.6 * 9.8 = 5.88

Factor of x^3-x^2-24x-36
Basile [38]
The trial and error method is used to find an initial factor:
If we let f(x) = x³ - x² - 24x - 36 and all we have to do is sub' in values of x until
f(x) = 0, we can use this to find an initial factor by the factor theorem:
f(1) = (1)³ - (1)² - 24(1) - 36 = -60
f(2) = (2)³ - (2)² - 24(2) - 36 = -80
f(5) = (5)³ - (5)² - 24(5) - 36 = -56
*** f(6) = (6)³ - (6)² - 24(6) - 36 = 0 ***

f(6) = 0 so (x - 6) is a factor of f(x).
This means that: f(x) = x³ - x² - 24x - 36 = (x - 6)(ax² + bx + c).
To find a,b and c, use long division (or inspection) to divide x³ - x² - 24x - 36 by x - 6.
The other 2 factors of f(x) can then be found by factorizing the
ax² + bx + c quadratic the way you would with any other quadratic (i.e. by quadratic formula, CTS or inspection).

What is the area of ABC below? If necessary, round your answer to two decimal places.
irina [24]
Our goal is to find the area
area=1/2 times base times height
we know the height is 7.9 but what is the base?

use the pythagorean theorem twice
alrighty
so
remember for legs length a and b and hytponuse c in a right triangle
a²+b²=c²

we need AD and DC

so
AD²+7.9²=9.4²
AD=√25.95

DC²+7.9²=23.2²
DC=√475.83

so
AD+DC=base=(√25.95)+(√475.83)
area=1/2bh
area=1/2((√25.95)+(√475.83))(7.9)
area≈106.28518654591426812803776879893
round to 2 decimal places
area≈106.29 square units
