Question #1: Some people feel that music is meant to put a smile on our faces, or make us dance and forget the troubles of the world. In your opinion, is music meant to be pure entertainment, or does it serve a social and/or political purpose? Choose a historical period. Then, using specific examples from musical history of that period, discuss the role of music in society.

Answer: I feel like music can be both. Some artist's music is meant to make a political statement, etc. But most songs are made for entertainment. When Bob Marley was at the peak of his career, a lot of his songs were about stopping war and chaos, and to come together as one. Sadly, his music didn't do much about world chaos, but he still left a great impact behind.
