Answer:-

If an element has 3 or more valence electrons then the element belongs to p block of the periodic table. For p block elements the group number is found out by adding the number of electrons in valence shell + 10.

The reason for this is because in the middle of the periodic table there are the d block elements ranging from group 3 to group 12 a total of 10 groups in between elements having 2 valence electrons and 3 valence electrons

A thorium-232 nucleus decays by a series of alpha and beta emissions until it reaches astatine-212. how many alpha emissions and
Arturiano [62]

There are 5 alpha and 5 beta particle  emit emission of thorium-232 nucleus into astatine-212.

A beta ray would be released from such an atomic nucleus during a radioactive decay process known as beta decay. The proton in the nucleus changes from a proton to a neutron throughout beta decay, and vice versa.

It is given that, The atomic mass of Th = 232

Atomic mass of astatine = 212

Atomic number of Th = 90.

Atomic number of  astatine = 85

Number of alpha particle = difference between atomic mass / 4

Number of alpha particle = 232-212 /4

Number of alpha particle = 20/4

Number of alpha particle = 5

Thus, the number of alpha particle will be 5.

Number of beta particle = difference between atomic number

Number of beta particle = 90-85

Number of beta particle = 5

Thus, the number of beta particle will be 5

Therefore, the number of alpha and beta particle will be 5 and 5.

Find the mass of copper that was
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

143.12 g

Explanation:

From the question given above, the following data were obtained:

Initial temperature (T₁) = 32 °C

Final temperature (T₂) = 130 °C

Heat (Q) = 5400 J

Specific heat capacity (C) = 0.385 J/gºC

Mass (M) =?

Next, we shall determine the change in temperature of copper. This can be obtained as follow:

Initial temperature (T₁) = 32 °C

Final temperature (T₂) = 130 °C

Change in temperature (ΔT) =?

ΔT = T₂ – T₁

ΔT = 130 – 32

ΔT = 98 °C

Finally, we shall determine the mass of copper. This can be obtained as follow:

Change in temperature (ΔT) = 98 °C

Heat (Q) = 5400 J

Specific heat capacity (C) = 0.385 J/gºC

Mass (M) =?

Q = MCΔT

5400 = M × 0.385 × 98

5400 = M × 37.73

Divide both side by 37.73

M = 5400 / 37.73

M = 143.12 g

Therefore, the mass of copper is 143.12 g

Copper has a density of 8.920 g/cm3. What mass of copper will occupy 45cm3? What volume of copper will have a mass of 1.0 kg?
mixas84 [53]
Density = mass/volume
so rearranged mass = volume x density
mass = 8.920 x 45 = 401.4g

rearrange   (there are 1000grams in 1kg)
volume = mass/density
volume = 1000/8.920
volume = 112.1076233cm3

What is diabetes? How does it disrupt normal cellular activities? What are the overall consequences for your body?
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

Diabetes is a group of diseases that affect how your body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose is vital to your health because it's an important source of energy for the cells. Cells are everywhere including the blood, bones and muscles. When you have diabetes, you don’t have enough insulin in your blood (an organ in your body called the pancreas makes insulin). Insulin controls the movement of blood sugar into the cells of the body.

Consider the following balanced equation for the following reaction:
castortr0y [4]

Answer:

47.47 g of CO₂ is the amount formed.

Explanation:

The reaction is:

2C₆H₅COOH(aq) + 15O₂(g) → 14CO₂(g) + 6H₂O(l)

Let's apply the formula for the percent yield

Percent yield of reaction = (Produced yield/Theoretical yield) . 100

First of all we convert the moles of CO₂ to mass: 1.30 mol . 44 g /1 mol = 57.2 g. So now, we replace:

(Produced yield / 57.2 g ). 100 = 83

Produced yield / 57.2 g  = 83 / 100

Produced yield / 57.2 g  = 0.83

Produced yield = 0.83 . 57.2g → 47.47 g of CO₂
