Suppose one county in Missouri decides it wants to reduce alcohol consumption, so the county passes a law that raises the price

of a bottle of beer by $1. As a result, people drive to other counties to drink alcohol, which results in an increase in drunk driving. This illustrates the principle that people respond to incentives.

Answer:

The answer is: True

Explanation:

An incentive is a punishment or a reward that induces someone (or the general public) to act a certain way. Many times incentives work because people compare costs and benefits. For example, in Europe gas prices are extremely high due basically to high taxes on gas. That is why most cars sold in Europe are much smaller and fuel efficient than those sold in the US were taxes on gas are usually much lower so the gas price is also much lower. The incentive is saving money even though most European cars aren´t as comfortable as those sold in the US.

In this specific question, those who wanted to drink beer will probably calculate how many beers they need to buy or drink to offset the expenses of going to the next county to buy beer. Probably no one will travel several miles just to buy 1 beer, but at some amount of beer the math will make you drive. Besides losing business in your own county, another collateral damage is the rise in drunk driving.

Answer:

B. Line extension

Explanation:

Product Line Extension

This involves the use of an already established brand name, in this case, cool whip for a new item (orange flavored cool whip) in the same product category. It's the production of a new product that is a little different to a company's existing products. The differences the new product usually has from the existing products may be in the line of new flavour, colors, product size, added ingredients and so on.

A popular example of this is Coke and Pepsi releasing Diet Coke and Pepsi respectively. Adding a new product to their existing range of products.

The next dividend payment by Im, Incorporated, will be $1.87 per share. The dividends are anticipated to maintain a growth rate
Makovka662 [10]

The answer is 9.35%.

The required rate of return (RRR) is the minimal return an investor would accept for owning a company's shares in exchange for a certain amount of risk. In corporate finance, the RRR is used to assess the profitability of proposed investment projects.

The RRR is a subjective minimal rate of return; this implies that a retiree will have a lower risk tolerance and hence accept a lesser return than a fresh college graduate with a larger stomach for risk.

Required return=(D1/Current price)+Growth rate

                        =(1.87/37)+0.043

                        =0.0505405405+0.043

                        =9.35% (Approx)

Hence, the required rate of return is 9.35%.

Fiesta28 [93]

Answer:

Closing/ New Level of Retained Earnings = $170,000

Explanation:

As for the provided information,

Retained earnings opening balance = $140,000

Net Profits after taxes = $65,000

This balance of net profit which is after taxes includes the dividend earned, which shall be the part of income, as the dividend earned is part of our income in case not reduced from carrying value of investment, as in case of investment in any company's stock for less than 20% share.

Also the preference dividend paid tends to reduce the net income to be added to retained earnings.

Therefore, closing balance of retained earnings:

= $140,000 + $65,000 - $35,000 = $170,000
