10 x (150-3) actually equals 1470
So we have to make (10 x 150) (_ x 3) = 1470
let's call the blank "a"

Now let's solve
(10 x 150) (a x 3) = 1470
10 times 150 equals 1500

1500 x (a x 3) = 1470
3 times a equals 3a because thats the correct way to write it.

1500 x 3a = 1470
-1500 -1500
Now subtract 1500 on both sides of the equal sign

3a = -30
3a ÷ 3 = -30 ÷ 3
1a = -10

Lastly divide 3 on both sides of the equal sign.

a = -10

Determine the slope and the y-intercept of the line represented by the equation y= -7/3×+3 slope: 7/9 ;y-intercept: 3 slope: 9/7
Mademuasel [1]

Answer:

slope ⟹ \:  -  \frac{7}{9}  \\ y  \:  intercept⟹ \: 3

Step-by-step explanation:

The standard form of this equation is

y = mx + c \\

m stands for the gradient or the slope, and c represents the y-intercept

y = mx + c \\ y =  -  \frac{7}{9} x + 3 \\ m =  -  \frac{7}{9}  \:  \\ and \:   \\  \: y \: intercept \:  = 3

2 divided by 1 and 6/7
ale4655 [162]

This problem, as written, requires a bit of guessing regarding your intentions.  My interpretation is that you want to do this division:

    2

----------

 1  6/7

If that's correct, here's what to do:  rewrite 1  6/7 as 13/7 (an improper fraction).

Then divide:

   2

--------      This is equivalent to the multiplication (2/1)(7/13) = 14/13 (answer)

 13/7

A shipment of 50 precision parts including 4 that are defective is sent to an assembly plant. The quality control division selec
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

0.3968 = 39.68% probability this shipment passes inspection.

Step-by-step explanation:

The parts are chosen without replacement, which means that the hypergeometric distribution is used to solve this question.

Hypergeometric distribution:

The probability of x successes is given by the following formula:

P(X = x) = h(x,N,n,k) = \frac{C_{k,x}*C_{N-k,n-x}}{C_{N,n}}

In which:

x is the number of successes.

N is the size of the population.

n is the size of the sample.

k is the total number of desired outcomes.

Combinations formula:

C_{n,x} is the number of different combinations of x objects from a set of n elements, given by the following formula.

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

In this question:

50 parts means that N = 50

4 defective means that k = 4

10 are chosen, which means that n = 10

What is the probability this shipment passes inspection?

Probability that none is defective, so:

P(X = x) = h(x,N,n,k) = \frac{C_{k,x}*C_{N-k,n-x}}{C_{N,n}}

P(X = 0) = h(0,50,10,4) = \frac{C_{4,0}*C_{46,10}}{C_{50,10}} = 0.3968

0.3968 = 39.68% probability this shipment passes inspection.
