Answer:

d

Step-by-step explanation:

If x represents the slant height, the graph would be a straight line.

If x represents the radius, the graph would be a parabola.

Looking at the answers, we're looking for x to be the slant height, so we're looking for a straight line.

We are looking for g(x). Answers a and b are wrong.

In g(x) r is fixed to 5 (this is given). So the slant height in the smallest possible cone would still be at least 5.

So the domain is x > 5.

d is your answer.

I'm not sure about problem 3 because the text is very small in some places.

However, the answer to problem 4 is choice C. The two volumes are the same. Why is this? Imagine we had a stack of coins that were all the same diameter and thickness. If we stack them completely vertical, then this is the same if we slanted the stack in some way (either slightly or extremely to one side). The coins all take up the same amount of space assuming each stack has the same number of coins. This idea is known as cavalieri's principle.

The sum of two numbers is 88. If four times the smaller number is subtracted from the larger number, the result is 13. Find the
VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

73 and 15

Step-by-step explanation:

I made two variables for this:

x = larger number

y = smaller number

Write an equation for "the sum of two number is 88" and you get:

x + y = 88

Write an equation for "four times the smaller number is subtracted from the larger number" and you get:

x - 4y = 13

I do not want an equation with both x and y in it, so I will rewrite the first one and use substitution in the second one:

x + y = 88   -- move the x to the other side

y = 88 - x

x - 4y = 13 -- substitute for y

x - 4(88 - x) = 13 -- multiply by 4

x - 352 + 4x = 13 -- move -352 to the other side, combine x's

5x = 365 -- divide by 5

x = 73

Now that I know x is 73, I go back to my first equation (x + y = 88) and I get:

73 + y = 88 -- subtract 73 from both sides

y = 88 - 73

y = 15

Help....................
Serhud [2]

Answer:

A) m=\frac{350}{25}

Step-by-step explanation:

We are trying to find how long it will take Carlos to have $500 TOTAL, so we need to subtract what he already has ($150) to get the value we want to divide by $25 to figure out how many months it will take him to save up the rest. The given answer above is just a simplified way of writing m=\frac{500-150}{25}, if that makes more sense.
