The sentence which is an example of faulty parallelism is Paul prefers the guitar to playing the saxophone.  This is a faulty parallelism because it uses an incorrect grammar and the use of the noun and verb agreement in this sentence.

The sentence that shows faulty parallelism is Paul wants to join the band, start a choral group and take more guitar lessons.This is faulty because a coordinating conjunction "and" is utilized to connect parts which are different and not parallel. The first two parts have to do with groups, except the last part of it.
