First thing a society must check before starting the production of corn is to check for its available resources. It must check if it has sufficient water availability and land where they would grow the crop.  

The crop would require crop, water and land. In addition to this, it would need more money as they need to feed more population now. So, they need to assess the space to grow the crop, sufficient water required for the same and nutrients which would increase the production.
