A. fixed costs of 18,000 and then 40 per canoe

c(x) = 18000 +40x

B) sell price is 160 per canoe, so r(x) = 160x

C) break even, set both a and b equal to each other and solve for x

18000 + 40x = 160x

subtract 40x from each side:

1800 = 120x

divide both sides by 120
x = 18000 / 120 = 150 canoes

break even means the money coming in equals the money going out

The Cost function is the amount that each canoe costs, as well as the fixed cost.

let C(x) be the total amount
let x be the canoe produced

C(x) = 40x + 18000

The revenue function is the amount the canoe is selling at.

R(x) = 160x

160x = 40x + 18000

find what x is, subtract 40x from both sides

160x (-40x) = 40x (-40x) + 18000

160x - 40x = 18000

120x = 18000

isolate the x, divide 120 from both sides

120x/120 = 18000/120

x = 18000/120

R(x) = 150

I believe C means:
Break- even point: if it means the amount to make it back to $0.

Use "160x = 18000 + 40x" again.

x should still = 150, for after 150 canoes, they would make $0 profit.

<em>A. the money coming in equals the money going out</em> (for $0 profit)

hope this helps

What is 54 as a percentage of 216?<br> %
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

54 as a percentage of 216% is 116.64.

Step-by-step explanation:

100% of 54 is 54 so 54 x 2 would be 108. We have solved 200% of it now for the 16%. The percentage of 54 of 16% would be 8.64. Now add up all we have learned.

108 + 8.64 = 116.64

Hello I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this math question. I’m so confused
Katarina [22]

Answer:

  a. f = 17.5/c

  b. 8.75 N

Step-by-step explanation:

<h3>(a)</h3>

Inverse variation means one variable is proportional to the inverse of the other. The equation for that is ...

  f = k(1/c) . . . . . . force (f) is proportional to the inverse of distance (c)

We find the value of k using data given for a specific instance.

  3.5 N = k(1/(5 cm)) . . . . use the given values

  17.5 N·cm = k . . . . . . multiply by the denominator

Then the equation of interest is ...

  f = 17.5/c . . . . . . . where c is in cm, and f is in newtons

__

<h3>(b)</h3>

Using the above equation, we find the force to be ...

  f = 17.5/2 = 8.75 . . . . newtons

_____

<em>Additional comment</em>

We often look at several different kinds of proportionality:

  • y = kx . . . . direct
  • y = k(1/x) . . . . inverse
  • y = kx² . . . . proportional as the square
  • y = kx·z . . . . jointly proportional to x and z

and there are combinations of these, such as ...

  • y = kr²h . . . . jointly proportional to h and the square of r

You may have noticed that when x and y are inversely proportional, their product is a constant. y = k/x  ⇒  xy = k

__

We have left off the units of k in the problem above. Sometimes it is a good idea to retain them, or to pay close attention to what they are. This can avoid using the wrong measures for the variables.

  f = (17.5 N·cm)/(2 cm) = 8.75 N . . . . . units of cm cancel
