Answer:

(-1,-5)

Step-by-step explanation:

So we have the system:

y=3x-2

x-y=4.

We are asked to use substitution. Luckily, it is already setup for this because one of the equations has one of the variables solved for, namely the y=3x-2 equation.  We are going to insert y=3x-2 into x-y=4 and solve for x.

x-y=4  (with y=(3x-2) ):

x-(3x-2)=4

Distribute:

x-3x+2=4

Combine like terms:

-2x+2=4

Subtract 2 on both sides:

-2x    =2

Divide both sides by -2:

 x     =-1

Now if y=3x-2 and x=-1, then y=3(-1)-2=-3-2=-5.

So the solution is (-1,-5).

Maci made $170 grooming dogs one day with her mobile dog grooming business. She charges $60 per appointment and earned $50 in ti
V125BC [204]

Answer:

170  = 60x + 50 (let x be number of appointments)

Step-by-step explanation:

because the total is 170, it goes behind the equal sign. $50 in tip is added to the amount of appointments so it goes on the other side of the 170. the $60 per appointment goes on the 50's side

N = 5

These are similar triangles so their sides are proportional. The scale factor is the smaller triangle to the large triangle is

5/12.5 = 4/10 = 2/5

So if AB corresponds to QR (2 corresponds to n) then n = 5

Tim goes on a car journey.
Lesechka [4]

Answer:

1. Attached

2. 25 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Tim travels first 15 minutes =\frac{1}{4} hour at average speed of 40 mph and passed

40\times \dfrac{1}{4}=10\ miles

2. Time stops for 25 minutes (distance traveled = 0 miles).

3. He then completes the journey at an average speed of 45 mph. The total journey time is 1 hour, then he was travelling at 45 mph for

60-15-25=20\ minutes=\dfrac{1}{3}\ hour

and covered

45\times \dfrac{1}{3}=15\ miles.

The distance-time graph for his journey is attached.

Find the average speed for the whole journey:

\text{Average speed}=\dfrac{\text{Total distance}}{\text{Total time}}=\dfrac{10+15}{1}=25\ mph

-----×4×1/4×4+9 trying help my grandson. I have no idea what to do. Please give the steps to answer the problem
musickatia [10]

Answer:

-----×4 + 9

Step-by-step explanation:

The product is evaluated left-to-right. We don't know the meaning of -----× so we cannot combine it with anything.

  -----×4×1/4×4+9 = -----×(4/4)×4+9

  = -----×1×4 + 9

  = -----×4 + 9

_____

We are assuming that -----× is equivalent to some variable, that it represents a blank containing a value unknown. If that is the appropriate interpretation, then the product of that unknown value and 4 cannot be combined with 9 until you know what value goes into the blank.
