A second change that we can see in the text is related to the US military power. Currently, we know that the USA is a great military power, but the author shows us that this was already very different and that the USA was already a very weak country militarily. As the text progresses, we can see that the author reflects on the celebration of freedom in a country where the freedom of African American citizens is limited.
