The most direct way nationalism caused World War I was through the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was the heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Many oppressed Slavic groups in the Austro-Hungarian Empire wanted to form independent nation states.

Why was China completely unaware of civilizations like India and Mesopotamia in the early years (like in 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE an
LenaWriter [7]
China is quite isolated because of surrounding mountains. Never seeing the other civilizations or hearing about them from nomads. It was difficult to travel there either way, one again because of the surrounding mountains, so no one was necessarily willing to venture out or into the area that was, at the time, China. Bear in mind, I could be wrong. But I'm 98% positive that it is correct.

While American cities prospered, however, the overproduction of agricultural produce created widespread financial despair among
yaroslaw [1]

Answer: True

Explanation: The Wall Street Crash of 1929 was a major stock market crash that occurred in 1929. It started in September and ended late in October, when share prices on the New York Stock Exchange collapsed. It remains the most devastating stock market crash in the history of the United States, considering how long it lasted and the full extent of its aftereffects.

Agricultural production was booming and there were good harvests in 1928 that had built up a mass of about 250 million bushels of wheat when 1929 opened. By May of the same year, there was also a winter-wheat crop of 560 million bushels ready for harvest in the Mississippi Valley. This oversupply caused a drop in wheat prices so heavy that the net incomes of the farming population from wheat were a cause for despair. This was one of the major causes of the 1929 market crash.

What role did the steam engine play in the industrial revolution
erik [133]

Answer:

The steam engine drove industries to develop quickly.

Explanation:

Factories in England before the coming of the steam engine relied on the power and location where they could use wind, water (fast-flowing rivers), and horses. The steam engine is considered to be one of the first great inventions during the industrial revolution, as it provided power to the machines in factories. It also became the driving force behind the industrialization. The steam engine was not only used in industries but also in trains (locomotive), and ships.
