Explanation:

As we know, fertilization is a process in which the egg cell and the sperm cell join to form a zygote. If an egg cell which contains n+1 number of chromosomes joins with a sperm cell containing n chromosomes, then the zygote formed will have n+n+1 i.e 2n + 1 number of chromosomes.  The zygote  goes through multiple cell divisions to form different cells. All the somatic cells are formed by mitosis. As mitosis produces identical daughter cells hence, all of the somatic cells will have 2n + 1 number of chromosomes.
