How does the gilded age compare to reconstruction as a historical period?

History

The reconstruction period had generally good ideas which were exploited by bad people and who turned it all upside down. The idea of reconstruction was to integrate African-Americans into the society and protect their rights and enable them to educate themselves and become sophisticated and emancipated members of the society.

During the gilded age, the focus switched form social to economic reforms and because of this the reconstruction ended and many southern states reverted to their original racist ways. This is why it's called the gilded age, it only looked like everything was great but it was bad at its core, like gilded items which only look gold.

The correct answers are: accuracy and honesty.

Indeed, being a historian take a lot of patience since research takes lots of effort and money. Accuracy in important, since the thread of events, the people involved and the multiplicity of factors that influence an event need to be carefully studied, verified and analyzed. Honesty is paramount, since past history inevitably has had an effect on present times and any falsification would not only have devastating effect in current politics but also would inevitably damage research on other fields which depend on history to yield accurate and satisfactory results. This is why bias is definitely to be banned from the profession.
