Their lives were almost bad terms like new labor was brought to them to replace the shattered world of slavery. After the civil war, many former slaves, planters and non-slaveholding whites were transformed. Later new systems of labor emerged to take the place of slavery as well, sharecropping..

Puritans are the people who intended the purification of the church of England. They wanted to stop the ceremony, liturgy and practices which were not specified in the scriptures. They were the first settlers in Plymouth. They consider Bible to be the supreme authority.

They intended to establish rule for social order based on the holy Gospel. puritans were not individualists and they considered church to be the center for all activities. They regarded education to be very important as every christian is expected to read and understand bible for a perfect living in the society.
