The triumphal column, also known as Trajan's column, was built by Emperor Trajan in order to celebrate his victory in the Dacian Wars. Emperor Trajan was the Roman Emperor from 98 to 117. The column was built in Trajan's Forum, north of the Roman Forum. The famous structure inspired many subsequent victory columns.
