Definition:

Rural Society:

A society in which there is a few people in very open land, and the things that they mostly do in the society is producing materials, food, and etc. In other words, rural societies mostly has a small population with a lot of land, or you can call them countrysides.

____________________________________________________

Explanation:

The reason why "There was a shift to a rural society" is the correct answer is because more people have claimed ownership of things after the fall of the Roman Empire. Since the Roman Empire has fallen, the land that the Roman Empire and wouldn't be theirs anymore, so the people that were already on the land claimed the land to themselves. Since the Roman Empire was known for their ability to make a lot of trades and things of that sort, that changed after they fell. It changed society a lot, turning into a rural society. The land that use to be the Roman Empire's now is filled with a little people with a lot of land. The small amount of people that lived there now owns a lot of land, and they use the land to make things for themselves and to trade with others. In the new society, they made things like materials, crops, and etc. This was different from the Roman Empire's society, since the Roman Empire mostly got their supplies and goods from traders. People started to leave the land after the fall of the Empire, and some people just stayed. To sum it all up, after the fall of the Roman Empire, the population decreased tremendously with only a few settlers left.
