A crowd of people stood on both sides of the street to view a 4th of July Parade.
Dmitriy789 [7]

Given :

Length of parade , L = 3\ miles=3\times 5280\ miles = 15840\ miles .

Breadth of parade , B=2\times 15=30\ ft .

5 people can fit into a 25\ ft^2 area.

1 mile = 5280 ft .

To Find :

The size of the crowd.

Solution :

Area of parade ,

A=15840\times 30\ ft^2\\\\A=475200\ ft^2

Also , 5 people can fit in 25\ ft^2 area .

So , number of people fit in A is :

n = \dfrac{475200\times 5}{25}\\\\n=95040

Therefore , 95040 can fit in the parade .

Hence , this the required solution .

What is the solution to log2(2x^3-8)-2log2(x)=log2(x)
Charra [1.4K]
\bf \textit{Logarithm of rationals}

log_a\left(  \frac{x}{y}\right)\implies log_a(x)-log_a(y)
\\\\\\
\textit{Logarithm of exponentials}
\\\\
log_a\left( x^b \right)\implies   b\cdot log_a(x)\\\\
-------------------------------

\bf log_2(2x^3-8)-2log_2(x)=log_2(x)
\\\\\\
log_2(2x^3-8)-log_2(x^2)=log_2(x)\implies log_2\left( \cfrac{2x^3-8}{x^2} \right)=log_2(x)
\\\\\\
\textit{since both sides are getting }log_2\textit{ we can simply undo that}
\\\\\\
\cfrac{2x^3-8}{x^2}=x\implies 2x^3-8=x^3\implies x^3-8=0
\\\\\\
x^3=8\implies x=\sqrt[3]{8}\implies x=2

A square rug has an area 99 ft2. Write the side length as a square root. Then decide if the side length is a rational number.
STALIN [3.7K]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

All of the sides of a square are the same. Therefore, to find the area, you multiply the side by itself. Multiplying a number by itself is conveniently called squaring.

Doing this backwards is called finding the square root. If you have an area of 64, you square root it, showing you that the sides are 8.

This means the side length of our square rug is √99.

A rational number is one that can be written as a fraction of two integers. If you put √99 into your calculator, you get 9.949874371....

This is not a rational number because it goes on forever in no particular order, so we cannot write it as a fraction of two integers. The closest number we could use to have a rational square root would be 100, as its square root is 10.

Have a wonderful day! :D
