The federal government is the national government of Canada, centred in Ottawa. The term can refer narrowly to the Canadian Cabinet, or more broadly to the Cabinet and the public service. The federal government plays a huge role in Canadians' lives — from the collection of taxes to the delivery of social services, and from the supervision of international trade to the safeguarding of national security.

Confederation

Canadians followed the American example in 1867 when they created a federation with powers split between two levels of government. At the same time, Canada’s leaders sought to avoid the problems they saw with the American system. In their view, the American Civil War (1861–1865) came about in part because the United States central government was too weak. As a result, Canada’s founding document, the British North America Act of 1867, created a powerful federal government and weaker provincial governments. (See also Constitution.)

The provinces were given responsibility for primarily private or local matters, such as hospitals, schools, charities, municipalities, shops, taverns, transportation within a province, onshore natural resources, and property and civil rights. Everything else was placed in the hands of the federal government, which was charged with maintaining “the Peace, Order, and good Government of Canada.” The federal government was also given the power to disallow provincial laws.

Which of the following is an example of how individual actions are constrained by sociological circumstances? (A) Freda's succes
sertanlavr [38]

Answer: An example of how individual actions are constrained by sociological circumstances is (D) David's decision to abstain from eating pork because his religion demands it.

Explanation: The concept "sociological circumstance" is used to refer to the social factors, such as ideas, principles or activities, that surround and have an influence on a particular individual. In that way, sociological circumstances limit a person's behaviour and actions. David's decision to abstain from eating pork because his religion demands it is an example of a constraint generated by a sociological circumstance because the principles of the religion he believes in and that surrounds him restrict his choices. In other words, his religion limits the way in which David is supposed to act and eat.

Katherine's opportunity cost of attending the lecture is: the transportation and time cost of getting to the lecture event itself plus the reduction in her physics exam grade by not studying tonight.

Explanation:

The opportunity cost is the "cost" lost by not enjoying the benefit associated with the chosen alternative choice. People usually make use of opportunities to make themselves better.

The opportunity cost can be explained as giving up of profit or value to achieve something else. Opportunity cost is the value of giving up the best thing whenever you make a decision. When Katherine decided to attend the lecture of her favorite author, she lost her time, transportation cost and even scored low grade in physics exam as didn’t study on exam night.

Alex Ar [27]

When Ashley Johnson’s male co-workers make unwelcome comments to her about her body and frequently tell sexual jokes when she is around even though she has been vocal to them that it’s comfortable for her, then it appears that Ms. Johnson is experiencing hostile environment sexual harassment.

This example is still surprisingly present in the real world.
