Which factors played a role in the rise of Portugal as a major trading power in South and Southeast Asia? Check all that apply
andreev551 [17]

Answer:

Correct answers are:

Using improved technology.

Paying high prices in gold.

Introducing Christian missionaries.

Explanation:

Portuguese explores used many technological improvements from the period, including compass, caravels and many others that enabled them to sail easier.

They paid large amounts of money in gold because the spices they were buying were rare and highly appreciated in Europe.

They were not able to defeat the Ottomans, and in general Portugal didn't have quarrels with this country.

Portugal is actually the first country that reached Asia by sea - Vasco de Gama did it.

A lot of missionaries came to this region straight after de Gama discovered the sea route to India.
