Answer:

The probability that a selected tourist will be Australian or male is 0.76

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Number of Australian men  = 15

Number of Australian Women  = 23

Number of British men  = 27

Number of British Women  =  20

To Find:

The probability that a selected tourist will be Australian or male

Solution:

The probability ( Australian or male) = Probability( Australian men) +Probability( Australian Women) +Probability( British men)

The total number of people in the tourist group

=>15 + 23+27+20

=>85 people

Probability( Australian men) =\frac{15}{85}----------------(1)

Probability( Australian Women) = \frac{23}{85} -----------------(2)

Probability( British men)  =\frac{27}{85}--------------------(3)

From(1), (2), (3)

The probability ( Australian or male) =\frac{15}{85} + \frac{23}{85} +  \frac{27}{85}

The probability ( Australian or male)  = \frac{65}{85}

The probability ( Australian or male)  = 0.76
