Answer:

Therefore,

The Water in the basin will be approx 134 cubic feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

A large water basin is in the shape of a right cylinder.

Given:

Diameter = d = 8.25 feet

Radius= r =\dfrac{d}{2}=\dfrac{8.25}{2}=4.125\ feet

Height = h = 3 feet

To Find:

Cubic feet of water that it will take to fill the basin to a level of 1/2 foot from the top = ?

Solution:

When the water will take to fill the basin to a level of 1/2 foot from the top the new height of Cylinder filled with water will be

h_{w}=h-0.5

Substituting the values we get

h_{w}=3-0.5=2.5\ feet

Now Volume Of Cylinder is given by

\textrm{Volume of Cylinder}=\pi r^{2}h

Where,

Height = h

Radius = r

pi = 3.14

Substituting the values,Volume of Water we will get

\textrm{Volume of Water in Cylinder}=3.14\times 4.125^{2}\times  2.5

\textrm{Volume of Water in Cylinder}=133.572\approx 134\ feet^{3}

Therefore,

The Water in the basin will be approx 134 cubic feet.

a) +17 -9 = +8 . . . a profit of $8

b) +9 -5 = +4 . . . a rise of 4 cm

c) -6 -4 = -10 . . . a drop of 10 °C

_____

Each integer has a sign chosen with respect to some reference direction. We usually choose a rise or increase or profit to be the positive direction, so a drop or decrease or loss is then represented by a negative number.
