Solve each compound inequality -3 < x -1 < 4

Answer 1

X - 1 > -3    add 1 to both sides:-

so x > -2

and

 x - 1 < 4

so  x < 5

Answer 2

-3 < x - 1 < 4

-3 + 1 < x - 1 + 1 < 4 + 1

-2 < x < 5
