The Constitution of the United States of America prescribes in Article I, Section 3, that the U.S. Senate shall be composed of two Senators from each State. The Senators are chosen by the Legislature, for six years while each Senator shall have one vote.

The Senators must be at least 30 years old, to be citizens of the U.S. for nine years and be a resident of the State that he represents
