Answer:

The Dust Bowl

Explanation:

During the 1920's and the years leading up to it, mostly through Manifest Destiny, people started to move to the Midwest. In the Midwest the land was barren and flat, it contained almost no trees. People decided to build their housing out of Sod bricks, these bricks contained soil from the Great Plains and Grass. This led to soil becoming looser due to less roots in the ground holding the soil in its place. This was further exemplified through farming upon the Great Plains. Farmers had to till the soil for their crops, which dug up roots in the ground. Plus, when they grew plants, as they grew the same plants needed nutrients were used by the plants, causing the land to lose them. These things all coagulated in the 1930's when a drought struck, turning the topsoil into, in many places, a fine powder that could be blown away with a slight breeze. As the winds went about, giant dust storms ravaged the Midwest, and moved as far as the Atlantic Ocean. This lead to the SCS or the Soil Conservation Service that helped regulate crops, and paid farmers not to grow certain crops. You can find more about the SCS with a simple search online.

Hope this helped

Why were the British able to win the Battle of Britain?
Jobisdone [24]

The RAF had over 50 radar stations across Britain which could find out about future attacks before the German aircraft managed to reach the coasts of Britain. This enabled them to prepare counter-attacks and their defense and ultimately rendered the German airforce completely useless. This is why Germans never managed to conquer the island.

Please help me write an essay that discusses the loss of life in the battle of Gettysburg and how president Abraham Lincoln both
Lorico [155]

Essay on the Meaning of the Gettysburg Address

While the Gettysburg Address is fairly short in length at around 300 words, this famous speech delivered by President Abraham Lincoln on November 19, 1963 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is both enduring and meaningful for all Americans today, almost exactly 146 years later. The first paragraph of his speech sets the tone, in which Lincoln does not directly mention the bloody Battle of Gettysburg, in which 50,000 soldiers lost their lives. Instead, he refers in the opening phrase, “Four score and seven years ago,” to the founding of America through another important written document, the Declaration of Independence in 1776. I believe Lincoln wanted the country to focus on preserving this …show more content…

I believe he is again focusing on preserving the country and uniting all Americans, North and South, behind the nation and reminding them of our common history. President Lincoln also refers to the dedication of the Battlefield of Gettysburg, emphasizing that this is,” a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live.” Clearly, Lincoln wants to remind all citizens that these thousands of casualties were for a great purpose of preserving this country, not dividing it through a Civil War.

In the third paragraph, President Lincoln stresses the important point that the words of his speech cannot actually bless or make holy the Battlefield of Gettysburg. Rather, he indicates the bravery of the men, both living and dead, has already made the ground of the battlefield sacred. Again, Lincoln is honoring the actions of all the soldiers, Union and Confederate, and trying to unite the nation instead of dividing it.
