C) Individual States
A guiding principle of the Articles was to preserve the independence of the states. The Articles created a weak central government, therefore they only received the powers which previous colonies had recognized as belonging to the parliament.

To this day, many politicians, judges and law markers refernece the document due to its huge impact on the world.
The idea of Free Speech is fundamental to modern western countries and gave rise to the 'power' of the individual and their say on a national level.
