The term substance abuse is defined as the excessive and inappropriate use of any substance causing social, physical, or psychological harm. Some of these drugs commonly being abused in the United States include alcohol, marijuana, heroin, and nicotine. Substance abuse is said to be one of the major public health concerns that affects this country. More and more people each year try these substances and become dependent on them increasing the growing health concern.
