• Ottoman Empire started declining in 17th Century. Sultans didn't realized that certain reforms are necessary to strengthen the country. Some of them were done in 19th Century, but it wasn't enough. Industrialization hasn't spread.
 • Case in Russia was even worse.
 • Absolute monarchs in Russia didn't allowed any changes. There was no industrialization, no constitution. The reforms are done just in 1905.

How did the name China came?
What is the histroy of China?
shtirl [24]
Ancient China produced what has become the oldest extant culture in the world. The name 'China' comes from the Sanskrit Cina (derived from the name of the Chinese Qin Dynasty, pronounced 'Chin') which was translated as 'Cin' by the Persians and seems to have become popularized through trade along the Silk Road.

Write a one to two paragraph of how the black death affect the people of the 14th Century.
Neporo4naja [7]
The consequences of this violent catastrophe were many. A cessation of wars and a sudden slump in trade immediately followed but were only of short duration. A more lasting and serious consequence was the drastic reduction of the amount of land under cultivation, due to the deaths of so many labourers. This proved to be the ruin of many landowners. The shortage of labour compelled them to substitute wages or money rents in place of labour services in an effort to keep their tenants. There was also a general rise in wages for artisans and peasants. These changes brought a new fluidity to the hitherto rigid stratification of society.

Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses Grant at Appomattox Courthouse after President Jefferson Davis announced the Confederate go
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses Grant at Appomattox Courthouse after Lee recognized the futility of continued fighting.

Explanation:

The Battle of Appomattox Court House was fought on April 9, 1865, between Union Army forces commanded by general Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate forces led by general Robert E. Lee.

Lee abandoned Richmond, Virginia (the Confederate capital) and moved west, hoping to regroup with other remanining Confederate units in North Carolina. However, Union forces pursued the Lee army and engaged it at Appomattox Court House. Lee charged the Union lines but, as he broke their line, he saw that further Union forces vastly outnumbering the Confederate army were advancing to join the battle. Upon realizing the futility of his situation, general Lee famously declared: "There is nothing left for me to do but to go and see General Grant and I would rather die a thousand deaths".

Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant that same day, which eventually led to a domino effect with other Confederate armies surrendering shortly after. The Civil War formally ended on May 9, 1865.

Responsible for reanouning war as an instrument of national policy
Aleonysh [2.5K]
The agreement was the unanticipated fruit of an attempt by the French Foreign Minister, Aristide Briand, to negotiate a bilateral treaty with the United States in which each nation would renounce the use of war as an instrument of policy toward the other.
