An ancient Chinese candle clock tells the amount of time that has passed by the amount of wax that has been melted off the candl

e. Each candle is divided into 12 sections, marked 1 inch apart. It takes 4 hours for each candle to completely melt, after which a new candle is lit. If two candles have completely melted and one candle has melted 4 in, how many minutes have passed since the first candle was lit?

Two candles=8 hours=8*60=480 minutes
4 inch is 4/12 of a candle, 4/12 of 4 hours=16/12=4/3 hours=80 minutes
so the total minutes are 480+80=560

Answer:

480+80=560

If a colored candle and a white candle are burned at the same time for an hour, then the colored candle will burn faster, because it has more chemicals than the white candle.

A rectangle has an area of 524.4m2. One of the sides is 6.9m in length. Work out the perimeter of the rectangle. PLEASE ANSWER!!
malfutka [58]

Answer:

<h2>165.8 m</h2>

Solution,

Area of rectangle= 524.4 m^2

Length(L)= 6.9 m

Breadth(B)=?

Now,

area = length  \times breadth \\ or \: 524.4 = 6.9 \times b \\ or \: 524.4 = 6.9b \\ or \: b =  \frac{524.4}{6.9}  \\ b = 76 \: m

Again,

Perimeter of rectangle:

2(l + b) \\  = 2(6.9 + 76) \\  = 2 \times 82.9 \\  = 165.8 \: m

Hope this helps...

Good luck on your assignment.....

Suppose that the given line has a slope of -2/3 and a y-intercept of (0,5/3). which of the following points is also a solution t
otez555 [7]

Answer:

From five given points it is find that points (1 , 1) and (4 , -1) will apply

Step-by-step explanation:

According to question,

Slop of line (m) = \frac{-2}{3}

And y-intercept is ( 0, \frac{5}{3})

So from above slope and points, the equation of line can be written as

y = mx + c

i.e \frac{5}{3} = \frac{-2}{3} x + c

    \frac{5}{3} = \frac{-2}{3} (0) + c

    \frac{5}{3} = 0 + c

Or, c = \frac{5}{3}

A) With points ( 5, \frac{5}{3} )

   At x = 5, y =\frac{-2}{3} (5) + \frac{5}{3}

            or, y = \frac{-10}{3} + \frac{5}{3}

            so, y = \frac{-5}{3}

Hence this points do not apply

B) With points ( 1 , 1 )

   At x = 1, y =  \frac{-2}{3} (1) +  \frac{5}{3}

      or,      y =  \frac{-2+5}{3}

      So,     y =  \frac{3}{3}

                y = 1

Hence this points will apply

C) With points ( 4 , -1 )

    At x = 4 , y =  \frac{-2}{3} (4) +  \frac{5}{3}

                    y =  \frac{-8+5}{3}

                    y =  \frac{-3}{3}

             So,  y= -1

Hence this points will apply

D) With points (-3 ,7)

    At x = - 3, y = \frac{-2}{3} (-3) +  \frac{5}{3}

                     y = \frac{14}{3}

 Hence this point will not apply

E) with points (0 , 0)

    At x 0,     y =  \frac{-2}{3} (0) +  \frac{5}{3}

               Or, y = 0 +  \frac{5}{3}

                     y =  \frac{5}{3}

Hence this point will not apply

∴ From above five given points it is find that points (1 , 1) and (4 , -1) apply
