Answer: a = 4/3

1. You can simplify the proportion by multiplying 5 and 3 and making it the denominator. 1/15 = a/20
2. Cross multiply. 15a = 20.
3. Divide by 15 on both sides. a = 4/3

Lin’s father is paying for a $20 meal.

$15.81

15% of $20 is $3 so subtract that from $20 and u get $17.
Then 7% of $17 is $1.19 so subtract that from $17 and you get $15.81, which is the amount Lin’s father would pay for the meal in the end.

Use the y- and x- intercepts to write the equation of the line. y-intercept (0, -6), x-intercept (-2, 0)
garri49 [273]

Hi there! :)

We are given 2 points. It means we can use the following formula to find the slope:

m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

m=\frac{0-(-6)}{-2-0\\} \\\frac{0+6}{-2}\\\frac{6}{-2} \\-3

So the slope is -3

First, let's write the equation of the line in point-slope form.

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y-(-6)=-3(x-0)

y+6=-3(x+0)

y+6=-3x+0

y=-3x+0-6

y=-3x-6

Hope this helps!

<u>Algebra I</u>

  • Terms/Coefficients

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

f(x) = 3x(x² + 4x - 5)

f(-2) is x = -2

<u>Step 2: Evaluate</u>

  1. Substitute in <em>x  </em>[Function]:                                                                             f(-2) = 3(-2)[(-2)² + 4(-2) - 5]
  2. [Brackets] Evaluate exponents:                                                                     f(-2) = 3(-2)[4 + 4(-2) - 5]
  3. [Brackets] Multiply:                                                                                         f(-2) = 3(-2)[4 - 8 - 5]
  4. [Brackets] Subtract:                                                                                        f(-2) = 3(-2)[-4 - 5]
  5. [Brackets] Subtract:                                                                                        f(-2) = 3(-2)(-9)
  6. Multiply:                                                                                                           f(-2) = -6(-9)
  7. Multiply:                                                                                                           f(-2) = 54
