Jay Stone's gross weekly pay is $280.00.
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

C) $17.36

Step-by-step explanation:

As Jay Stone earns $280 a week as gross weekly pay which is the amount he earns before taxes are deducted and you know that the rate is 6.2%, you can calculate the amount that is deducted from his pay this  week for Social Security taxes by finding the 6.2 percent of his gross weekly pay:

$280*6.2%= $17.36

According to this, the amount that is deducted from his pay this  week for Social Security taxes is $17.36.

Find the area of the trapezoid below.
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer: 54 cm²

Step-by-step explanation: In this problem, we're asked to find the area of the trapezoid shown. A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides.

The formula for the area of a trapezoid is shown below.

Area =\frac{1}{2} (^{b} 1 + ^{b}2)h

The <em>b's</em> represent the bases which are the parallel sides and <em>h</em> is the height.

So in the trapezoid shown, the bases are 6 cm and 12 cm and the height is 6 cm. Plugging this information into the formula, we have \frac{1}{2} (6 cm +12cm)(6 cm).

Next, the order of operations tell us that we must simplify inside the parentheses first. 6 cm + 12 cm is 18 cm and we have \frac{1}{2}(18 cm)(6 cm).

\frac{1}{2} (18 cm) is 9 cm and we have 9 cm · 6 cm of 54 cm²

So the area of the trapezoid shown is 54 cm².

Roger can run one mile in 18 minutes. jeff can run one mile in 15 minutes. if jeff gives roger a 1 minute head start, how long w
gladu [14]

Alright, lets get started.

Roger can run one mile in 18 minutes.

Jeff can run one mile in 15 minutes.

Suppose in x minutes, they both will catch up.

Roger runs in 18 minutes = 1 mile

So, Roger will run in 1 minute = \frac{1}{18} miles

So, Roger will run in x minutes = \frac{x}{18} miles

Jeff runs in 15 minues = 1 mile

So, Jeff will run in 1 minute = \frac{1}{15} mile

As Jeff gives roger a 1 minute head start, means Jeff will have x-1 minute time to run

So, Jeff will run in (x-1) minute = \frac{x-1}{15}

As both are cathing up means they both runs same distance, means

\frac{x}{18} =\frac{x-1}{15}

Cross Multiplying

15 x = 18x - 18

3 x = 18

x = 6 minutes

So for calculating distance = speed * time

Distance = \frac{1}{18} *6 = \frac{1}{3} miles

It means it will take 1/3 or 0.33 miles before jeff catches up to roger.   :   Answer

Hope it will help :)
