I believe that the answer is a mushroom. The mushroom and animals are both eukaryotes with nuclei and complex structures inside their cell membrane.These features were considered the main similarity until scientists discovered that both the fungi and animals contain lanosterol which no plant has it or anything similar to it. This is why a fungi like mushroom would be considered a close relative to humans.
