Take 89 minus 11 to find twice of Jerry's number . To find Jerry's number divide the answer by two which is 89-11 =78. 78 divide by 2 is 39 . To find Mary's number add 39 and 11 .
Hence Mary has 50
Jerry has 39

Let x be represent the number of Jerry and x + 11 for Mary.
x = Jerry
x + 11 = Mary
Getting Jerry's number:
x + (x + 11) = 89
2x + 11 = 89
2x = 89 - 11
2x = 78
2x/2 = 78/2
x = 39
Getting Mary's number(simplify):
x + 11
= 39 + 11
= 50
.
Therefore, Mary and Jerry's age are 50 and 39, respectively.

Determine if the following statements are true or false. If true give a reason or cite a theorem and if false, give a counter ex
DiKsa [7]

Answer:

a. False the series \sum\limits_{i=1}^\infty (-1)^nis bounded but does not converge

b. False, xₙ = n + (-1)ⁿ⁻¹(n - 1) does not diverge to infinity but it is not bounded for n ≥ 1

c. False some bounded sequences are divergent

An example of divergent sequences, aₙ, and bₙ, such that aₙ + bₙ converges is a_n = \sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{1}{n} , \, b_n =  \sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{-1}{n}

\sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{1}{n} + \sum\limits_{n} \dfrac{-1}{n} is convergent

Haleys's anole lizard measures 14.5 centimeters.Caleb's anole lizard measures 12.34 centimeters .An anole lizard tail is half it
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:  Tail of Haley's lizard is longer than Caleb's lizard by 1.08 cm.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Length of Haley's anole lizard = 14.5 cm

Length of Caleb's anole lizard =12.34 cm

According to question, we know that an anole lizard tail is half its length , so

Length of tail of  Haley's anole lizard is given by

\frac{14.5}{2}=7.25\ cm

Length of tail of Caleb's anole lizard is given by

\frac{12.34}{2}=6.17\ cm

We get that tail of Haley's anole lizard is longer than Caleb's anole lizard by

7.25-6.17=1.08\ cm.

So, Tail of Haley's lizard is longer than Caleb's lizard by 1.08 cm.
