With South Americas Rain forest , it produces 20% of the earths oxygen. Also many drugs used to treat people have come the plants of Amazon. The worlds climate would be much different because ocean currents would be different . Europe would not have the warmth of the North Atantic drift current to keep it warm. The world would not be the same without South America because it contains the largest area of un-disturbed rain forests. It reduces carbon dioxide and releases oxygen in the atmosphere. The forests are also home to millions of different species; many of which are unique to South America. The topography of South America is dominated by the Andes Mountains. Its long shape stretches all the way down south and provides the nearest port to the Anartica. So it provides access to reseaches on the Anartica.
