The world would not be the same without South America because it contains the largest area of un-disturbed rain forests. It reduces carbon dioxide and releases oxygen in the atmosphere. The forests are also home to millions of different species; many of which are unique to South America. The topography of South America is dominated by the Andes Mountains. Its long shape stretches all the way down south and provides the nearest port to the Anartica. So it provides access to reseaches on the Anartica.

Sometimes water scarcity is caused by human action. Describe an example of where this has occurred.
damaskus [11]

Answer:

Explanation:

Water scarcity already affects every continent. Around 1.2 billion people, or almost one-fifth of the world's population, live in areas of physical scarcity, and 500 million people are approaching this situation. Another 1.6 billion people, or almost one quarter of the world's population, face economic water shortage (where countries lack the necessary infrastructure to take water from rivers and aquifers).

Water scarcity is among the main problems to be faced by many societies and the World in the XXIst century. Water use has been growing at more than twice the rate of population increase in the last century, and, although there is no global water scarcity as such, an increasing number of regions are chronically short of water.

Water scarcity is both a natural and a human-made phenomenon. There is enough freshwater on the planet for seven billion people but it is distributed unevenly and too much of it is wasted, polluted and unsustainably managed.

Which of the following statements is true?
natulia [17]

Answer:

The correct statement is D) Walking short distances instead of driving can help reduce the greenhouse effect.

Explanation:

Modern technologies does allow the recycling of plastic and metals. New recyclable plastics have also been introduced which can decompose very quickly. Furthermore to say that only government can protect the environment is also false as personal choices play a huge part.

In this case, a personal choice of simply walking short distances instead of using a car can reduce our carbon footprint and help the environment in the long run.
