Biology

Probably molecular biology. Scientists have been able to look at organisms and compare them visually for rather a long time, but only recently have we been able to sequence genomes and compare organisms at the molecular level.

A gun of mass 5k g fires a bullet of mass 20 g with a speed of 100 m/s. Find the recoil velocity of the gun
kondaur [170]

Answer:Mass of bullet, m=20g=  0.02kg

Velocity of bullet, v=100m/s

Mass of gun, M=5kg

Let recoil velocity of gun =V

Before firing, the system (gun+bullet) is at rest, therefore, initial momentum of the system =0

Final momentum of the system = momentum of bullet + momentum of gun

=mv+MV=

=2+5v

we know Final momentum = Initial momentum

i.e., 2+5v=0

5V=−2

v=-0.4m/s

Negative sign shows that the direction of recoil velocity of the gun is opposite to the direction of the velocity of the bullet.

Why do scientists compare the DNA of bananas, worms, fruit flies, and humans? How can this information be helpful?
brilliants [131]
About 60 percent of our genes have a recognizable counterpart in the banana genome! "Of those 60 percent, the proteins encoded by them are roughly 40 percent identical when we compare the amino acid sequence of the human protein to its equivalent in the banana

The Tasmanian tiger, the largest known carnivorous marsupial, was wiped out of the wild due to constant hunting:
Darya [45]

The statement is - True.

The Tasmanian tiger went extinct because of the extensive hunting by the new settlers. People were killing the Tasmanian tiger because they thought that it is the animal responsible for the killing of the livestock, but at the end it turned out that they made a huge mistake and that actually the feral dogs and the dingo were the ones responsible for that. The last Tasmanian tiger was a female and died in captivity under very bad conditions.

Even though people use the term Tasmanian tiger (because of the stripes) and Tasmanian wolf (because of the dog-like face), it is an animal that is not related with neither the cats nor the dogs, but instead it is a marsupial, the biggest marsupial carnivore in the recent history, and its real name is Thylacine.

Where does the energy in food come from?
Feliz [49]

Answer:

A. Proteins, Carbohydrates, or fats

Explanation:

There are essential nutrients for life in which we can include carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins, fiber, and water.  The main nutrients we use for energy are carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. This is because they contain calories in them and the calories are what our body needs to create energy.

Our bodies, like a car, need fuel to function. The fuel we need comes from food. The food has energy stored in it so whenever we eat food, that stored energy is transferred to us. This food act as fuel for the cells in our body so they can carry all the metabolic processes and give us the energy to move, run, think, talk, digest and all of the biological processes we need to survive.
