Simplify 1/4x to x/4

-x/4 - 14y - 1/8x + 2y + 18

Simplify 1/8x to x/8

-x/4 - 14y - x/8 + 2y + 18

Collect like terms

(-x/4 - x/8) + (-14y + 2y) + 18

Simplify

-3/8x - 12y + 18

The graph below shows the numbers of cups of apple juice that are mixed with different numbers of cups of lemon-lime soda to mak
Misha Larkins [42]
The ratio of the number of cups of apple juice to lemon-lime soda is 6:1.

If there is a point on the graph at (1, 6), where the x-coordinate the number of cups of lemon-lime soda and y-coordinate is the number of cups of apple juice, you can deduce the ratio (6 cups of apple juice for 1 cup of lemon-lime soda).

As you imagine on the graph, this pattern continues, with 2 cups of lemon-lime soda for 12 cups of apple juice, that simplifies to 1 cup of lemon-lime soda for 6 cups of apple juice. Since the question asks for the ratio of apple juice to lemon-lime soda, you just reverse the values and get 6:1

Multiply and simplify. (x - 1)(x - 1)(x - 1)
Tanzania [10]
(sorry if it's too late and you've already figured it out, but here you go anyway)
The easiest way to do this is to start by FOILing then add.
So just start with (x-1)(x-1)
(x-1)(x-1)
Front: (x*x) = x^2
Outer: (x*-1) = -x
inner: (-1*x) = -x
Last: (-1*-1) = 1
Added: x^2 -2x +1
Now take that answer and do the same thing with (x-1). It's basically the same thing, just with an added thing you need to multiply.
(x-1)(x^2-2x+1)
(x*x^2) = x^3
(x*2x) = 2x^2
(x*1) = x
(-1*x^2) = -x^2
(-1*-2x) = 2x
(-1*1) = -1
Now add everything together:
x^3+2x^2+x-x^2+2x-1
The answer is:
x^3+x^2+3x-1

Over 6 days jim jogged 6.5 miles 5 miles 3 miles 2 miles 2 miles 3.5 miles and 4 miles. What is the mean distance that jum jogge
Marizza181 [45]

Mean means average.

To find the average, add the data then divide it by the amount of individual data you have.

(6.5 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 3.5 + 5)/2 = mean

27/2 = mean

13.5 = mean

13.5 miles is the mean distance that Jim jogged.
