9/16+ 1/2
= 9/16+ (1*8) / (2*8)
= 9/16+ 8/16 (common denominator is 16)
= (9+8)/16
= 17/16
= (16+1)/16
= 16/16+ 1/16
= 1+ 1/16
= 1 1/16

The final answer is 1 1/16~

So you have to make them fractions with common denominators. Obviously they aren't yet. So, what number can bboth 16 and 2 go into? 16.

9/16 can stay as is, but we need to multiply 1/2 until we get ?/16.
2*8=16
Since we now have 16 on the bottom, we need to multiply the top by 8 too.
1*8=8
So your final fraction is 8/16.
But we aren't done yet. You still need to add the fractions to gether.
9/16 + 8/16 = 17/16 --> This can be simplified further down to 1 1/16.

I hope this helps!

Vilka [71]

Answer:

Program C allows students to earn a Mathematics degree (B.A. or B.S.) by combining courses in the Department of Mathematics with courses from one other department.  In most areas of specializations, mathematical and/or quantitative courses in other departments are part of the math degree program.  All Program C students take a minimum of five core math courses:  Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Introduction to Linear Algebra, and a proofs course, usually either Introduction to Abstract Algebra or Fundamental Properties of Spaces and Functions I.

Why is it helpful to write numbers in different ways
Goshia [24]
You should write numbers in as many ways as you possibly can to make new connections in your brain. Knowing how to write numbers in many different ways can help you solve complex problems more easily. Doing this can also reinforce the mathematical principles and logic you have memorised.

Writing one in many different ways:

1=1/1=2/2=3/3=4/4=(-1)/(-1)=(-2)/(-2)

=1.0=1.00=1.000=(1/2)+(1/2)=(1/3)+(1/3)+(1/3)

=(1/4)+(1/4)+(1/4)+(1/4)

Writing a half in many different ways:

1/2=(1/4)+(1/4)=(1/6)+(1/6)+(1/6)

=(1/8)+(1/8)+(1/8)+(1/8)=4*(1/8)

=2/4=3/6=4/8=5/10=0.5=0.50

etc...etc...

Help!<br> math problem step by step please
natta225 [31]

Answer:

2x -y ≥ 4

Step-by-step explanation:

The intercepts of the boundary line are given, so it is convenient to start with the equation of that line in intercept form:

... x/(x-intercept) + y/(y-intercept) = 1

... x/2 + y/(-4) = 1

Multiplying by 4 gives the equation of the line.

... 2x -y = 4

This line divides the plane into two half-planes. The half-plane that is shaded is the one for larger values of x and/or smaller values of y than the ones on the line. So, for some given y, if we increase x we will get a number from our equation above that is greater than 4. Hence, the inequality we want is ...

... 2x -y ≥ 4

We use the ≥ symbol because the line is solid, so part of the solution space.
