<u> C. A colony under the direct control of the English monarch</u>
During the 17th century, the British government had three types of colonies in America: royal, proprietary and charter. A royal colony was the one governed directly by the English monarch, that is to say, the king, through a governor appointed by it. At that time, there were 13 American colonies and 8 of them were royal, it included the states that are now: Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
