Answer:

The plantations cover 41% of the total forest area

Explanation:

70% of the surface of Japan has forest cover (23.8 million hectares). Of the affected natural forests, 13.6 million hectares and the remaining 10.2 million hectares are mostly young plantations.

Forests are divided into National Forests, which covers 31% of the area, Public Forests (11%) and Private Forests (58%). National Forests are divided into Soil and Water Conservation Forests (19%), forests for the preservation of flora and fauna (18%), forests for recreation and recreation (8%) and productive forests (55%) .

Private Forests cover most of the Japanese forest area. Of them, they recorded almost 80% of domestic production. Through agreements with the Forest Agency, some properties are used for conservation or recreation and the agency is responsible for consulting, the application of silvicultural treatments and the monitoring of these properties. Many smallholders are also associated in production and sales cooperatives. The plantations cover 41% of the total forest area and are located within all types of tenure.
